Sadly no. Hard work pays if you are training people to take over for you so you can move up. Otherwise you're just a hard worker, and can be taken advantage of in most companies.

If you get paid for hard work, then hard work pays.
If you are learning while you work then that is a form of pay.
Some hard work does not pay. What you need is the judgement to be sure you are getting into a situation that will not cheat you, or the mindset that you will accept the loss if it happens.

I'm not tooo sure. I mean usually hard work will pay off. But at times hard work is easily taken advantage of and overlooked. Work hard for something you love.....don't work hard for an under-paying, under appreciative boss!

i used to think so but thats not true.too many special intrest groups too much favoritism too much worrying about diversity and being totally pc, even if it means allowing people to lie slander and defame someone because they dont like them.they dont like the person because they are a much better worker and dont do drugs or drink at work everyday but they are gay and can and do get away with lying about someone who isnt.sad but true also the truth doesnt matter at work .maybe thats why companys are closing up and moving on they are settling for and keeping inferior workers?

hmmmm... hard work pays off when you want it to... say for instance I bought a new house and I hate painting it however I make time for it and when I finish painting a room I must say that the hard work I put into it pays off.

No, it doesn't always pay. If you have a job at McDonald's it definitely doesn't.
