Who else is sick of generalizations?

I am sick of both sides making generalizations of the other sides politics. Doesn't this seem like it is hurting America more by not trying to understand the other side? If we can't get along at all, how are we ever going to make this country the best it can be?

You're absolutely right about bickering and name-calling being corrosive. But until people become more interesting in solutions than in scoring rhetorical political points, it's not going to change.

So I'm not the only person on this planet who is tired of all this bickering. There are too many emotions involved in politics now to be able to calmly listen to the other side's ideas and make amends. Granted, I don't agree with a certain sides issues (namely all of them) but I vote Republican so that I can cancel out a Democrat vote.

You are absolutely correct. Gross generalizations do hurt America. Being fully educated about the subject and being open minded are key elements to a thoughtful, understanding and educated nation.

I share your distaste, but have come to the conclusion that most find it easier to demonize the other side rather than openly listen and come to compromise. I would categorize this as a intellectual machismo of sorts.

I understand the 'other side'. I'm not obligated to agree with it, however. Nor should I be made to feel guilty for refusing to compromise on my beliefs.
