I thought about this for a while because it happened to me. When my teacher said it is class I thought it could be true.

Is it true that best friends tend to have their period around the same time? Girl friends that you hang out with, I mean. There are other people who had noticed this too which is why my teacher brought it up in class and she said it's possible that hanging out with a girl can influence your period cycles.

How you heard of this? Has it happen to you? Is it true?

It's phermones alright, it is fact. How I understand it that the woman with the stronger phermones usual gets the rest of the women she spends alot of time with, like roomates, family member, etc, on the same cycle as her or at least close to it.

It happened to me, my sister and my mother. My poor father! Now it is it happening with me and my daughter, God help my husband! When I lived with 2 good friends of mine, one being female and one male, my male friend would go nuts because me and my girlfriend cycled at exactly the same time, usually within 12 hours of each other.

I have heard of this before. And there is truth to that matter. My girl friend lives with seven (yes seven!) other girls in a house and after about 3 months all their periods used to come around the same time. I used to work in an office with only 2 females , but now there are 4 girls here and we have come to realise that our periods are all happening around the same time. Not sure how it is caused, but it has to do with hormones, your cycle and i think i read something about the moon as well?? Who knows. We women are just very superior species.

It is true that sometimes best friends will have their periods around the same time as the others. It's never happened to me before but I've talked to others that have had it happen to them, even in a family setting I've heard of this happening.

Yep! Happened to me (all of us) in college who were roommates! Now that I have 3 dd's,well lets just say life ought to start getting interesting here in a few more years! What I remember is once reading some article about pheromones (sp?!)...some hormonal thing caused by subtle smells. That was what the article explained eventually got everyone on the samepage. Pretty interesting stuff. I think it's God's way of laughing at my husband, personally!

I've heard of family members having simular period cycles, but not friends, although I'm often on the same time as my good friends, i've never thought of that before, good question. It may just be a random thing though.

I have heard of this. In high school and college classes- it's a scientific fact. Women who spend a lot of time together, ie, live together etc, tend to see synchronization of their menstrual cycles. I'm not sure exactly why this happens, but I'm pretty sure it's related to hormones/pheremones.

Yes it has happened to me, it is really bizarre. Not the best thing for a household of women to all get PMS at the same time!
This link has a few interesting theories
