Betty Friedan's ex-husband Carl was a feminist, yet he advised against marrying one. What does that tell you?

anotherguy hit the nail on the head. Feminists decades ago had a purpose and fought for equality. Feminists today want to punish innocent generations of males for sins of dead generations and they are doing a very good job.
I would not advise marriage anyway as any non-feminist will gladly take advantage of how much power women get in divorce, but a feminist is especially risky as she knows all the stops. You shouldn't get married until divorces aren't completely biased against men even though we probably won't see that.

What I've learned recently, thanks in large part to Yahoo Answers, is that it depends on you and the feminist. If you are a nice/somewhat neurotic/burned guy, you're at a higher (get hurt for things that aren't really your fault) risk category than anyone else in the dating arena, including jerks, high-maintenance women, nice women, etc. As for the feminist woman that a man is dating, she needs to be tested for whether her feminism includes accountable views on how good men should be treated. If she's dating a jerk or jerks, then she's not a good feminist. If she's with a good man, but includes in her values treating him like crap whenever he reminds her of a jerk,............stay away. If she feels it's OK for her to make disparaging, thoughtless remarks about men but you can't make disparaging, well-thought-out remarks about women....stay away. Since you're asking this question, you're probably in tune with what will fly and what won't. Most women, like most men, are unsuitable for relationships. The additional concern good men have of aspects of feminism making it even harder for them is quite valid. A feminist that is suitable for marriage should be aware of this and/or have enough self esteem not to attract guys that would make her activate feminism in her romantic relationships, because that's NOT where feminism belongs, eh. Side note: Most women who would call themselves feminists are probably safer to marry in a legal sense.

Depends on what kind of feminist she is. If she's an extremeist who blames everything wrong in the world on "patriarchy", then yes. If she's not, and I suspect that's most feminists, then probably not.
If there's anything I learned about feminism, it's that it isn't just one unified ideology.

Marrying anyone with a fundamental problem to your core beliefs is high risk. If a man has a fundamental problem with his fiance's brand of feminism, then yes, it's probably high risk.

Maybe if you enjoy BDSM
Bondage & discipline (B&D)
Domination & submission (D&S)
Sadism and masochism (or sadomasochism) (S&M)
and other POWER games. Then yes, why not ?? Also if you like being continously screwed over and over again(dildo anal penetration, nagging, divorce, lose child custody etc)), the advantage of having a full fledged feminist far ouwwwwweighs the risks.....

For you, whether she was a feminist or not, the perfect description of a wife would be a docile, quiet, as well as submissive female, so a cow would be a good choice for you. I think you'd be happy for many years-the only risk would be those pesky laws against human-animal intimate relationships...
Moo-ny happy returns!

I would say so. I'd have to find out what kind of feminist that she is. If she's the more extreme kind, like those chicks in NOW, then she's a psycho, and she'll probably falsely accuse you of something like domestic violence, and divorce you, and take as much of your money as she can.
If you have kids, she'll probably get custody of them, and probably psychologically abuse the male kids. She may be physically abusive too, and if you defend yourself, she'll have you put in jail. Beware of psycho feminists. They're dangerous.

Feminism is merely the belief that women should be socially, politically and economically equal. Therefore, I think marrying a feminist is a great idea :) Congratulations!

Then what IS the point in asking? If not for your own benefit, then...what? You already have your own thoughts about it...are you just looking for validation, or do you just want to offend feminists? I'm just curious about the purpose of the question.
