my USB port stop working and they told me to...


Open the Registry on the offending computer and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

Delete any values with the name UpperFilters or LowerFilters within this key.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. (This is within the same general area of the Registry, but note the slightly different CLSID.)

Also delete any values with the name UpperFilters or LowerFilters within this key.

Reboot the computer.

You have to use the Registry Editor: Click start, then run, and type "regedit"

Generally the regisrty are modified when an hard ware or an software application stops workin or an intalation could not be done. so that is the reason we have to change the registry changes to work them properly accordingly to the applications.

Hi. Your registry keys were truncated by Y!A. If you have never editted the registry before get someone to help you. It's not hard, but it CAN make your system go FUBAR.
