That's right, it's me, Noam Chomsky, outlaw Historian. If anyone had ever picked up a history book, wouldn't they have learnt that America hates democracy, and has worked - since the 1940s - to ensure that democracy is destroyed?

Oh, sorry. Was I interrupting what's on the television? That's okay. Go back to sleep.

I fancy myself as an outlaw historian myself.
I agree with your premise but I wonder why you say, "since the 1940s"?
If you'll read back farther I think you'll find it goes back at least to the founding fathers.
Wasn't Gouverneur Morris (signer of the declaration of independence) in favor of a stronger executive branch and a president who would serve for life? He also thought that common people were incapable of self-government and feared that the poor would sell their votes to rich people, and consequently thought that voting should be restricted to property owners. He was completely wrong about all that wasn't he?
What can we learn from history books? Anything of value, or the lies of historians? But again, I accept your premise.

So, if you're the real Noam Chomsky, how come it doesn't say that here? As for the question, I know quite a lot about history, Noam, and I don't really see any problem with the USA as it is, generally. A bit presumptuous, among other things, to assume that those of us who think the country is doing well aren't intelligent or learned, let along as learned as you.

before Liberal revisionist took hold. The ones from today are

I think that those in power in the U.S. would really prefer it if most of us didn't even know how to read....much less picked up a history book.

And they're working on that project to have less and less of us reading....like Noam said, go back to your TV.
