Of course genes play a huge part in our similarities. People say that I resemble my Mom's side of the family and I see that too. other than that our similarities include loving to read, watch movies and our love of animals. I think not only genes but just growing up in your family gives you some personality similarities. A lot of times we tend to look up to our older siblings and copy them when we are younger. I would say that in my family we do share some common interests and personality traits, yet we are all really quite different people.

I am a free-thinker, personally. But, if you're around a person alot there's bound to be similarities. I think it depends on your living environment. I don't necessarily think it has anything to do with the genes. There's parts of me that I find similar to my mother. Then, there's parts of me that I find similar to my dad. I feel as a whole my personality is completely different, however. I'm a different person, with different values.

Our physical bodies are made up of exactly 50% mom and 50% dad. The personallity is more complex. Some of it is genetic. The rest forms by mimicking other people and accumulated life experience.

I think it has to do with your personality. I have almost the same personality as my mother, but we are both the complete opposite of my brother, and none of us are like my father.
