I'm looking for a Firefox extension which will let me download streaming music from a website. In particular I am looking to get a song off of this one www.mp3.com

Thanks

Record it while you are streaming to your comp with Audacity. Edit it into tagged tracks. No different from recording the radio, but the sound quality is better.

You can download it by using a network trace utility to see where the "Real" file actually is. Then you can download the real file which will prob have weird name. Steaming meida is just a text file with partiular extension that tells browser to stream the file it's pointing to in the text file.

URLHELPER and HIDOWNLOAD work well for this.
http://www.streamingstar.com/

But do make sure you don't download and distribute something that is copywrited.

If it is streaming, you are downloading and playing at the same time. You cannot copy a stream, which is why a lot of sites are starting to use streaming media.
