Historially people have deemed tightly curled hair as being unattractive, unkempt, unmanagable and dirty. In the work force people are often told that their hair isn't "professional" enough. I wear my hair natural, I do straighten it on occasions just for a different look, but I keep my hair clean and it's managable if you take care of consistently. Why do people think this way, regardless of how you feel about our hair, it's how we were born and it's not less attractive then the hair you have.

I generally think people should appreciate what God gave them, However, I would trade my straight, thin hair for a fro anyday. But as you know throughout history people have been frightened about things they are not familiar with. I think you should wear your hair how you feel comfortable. It does not make you less black to get a perm or more black to have a natural style. It is what it is ... just hair. People should just live and let live. There are so many other things to focus on than good or bad hair. I have mixed children and my family actually said - thank goodness they didn't get nappy hair! I was offended and disgusted by the remark. I hope we begin to see that we have far fewer differences than similarities.

I don't know of a lot of people actually hating it. I don't hate my natural hair but it is better to handle when it is relaxed. Sometimes I see people walking around with their natural hair and I think it is the most beautiful thing ever. I have an example. I was in spanish class one day and we had to do an exercise where we compare each other. So this little Indian girl was my partner and we were talking about hair. So she got up and said in Spanish, my hair is better than hers. So then we were all like what is that supposed to mean. She then said, its just better, the texture. I was extremely offended.

This is simply not true. I'm white and have very straight hair. I wish that I could have even a little bit of curl so I wouldn't look like Malachi from Children of the Corn. Many times I've told my wife (who's black and has very curly hair) that I would love to have hair like hers. Black people can have cool hair styles that white people can't. There's the Jimmy Hendrix wild style, the Bob Marley dreadlock rasta style, the Jackson Five microphone/Afro style (we all know that the Osmonds would've had the same style if they could have), the Don King/Buckwheat troll-doll style, the Kid'n'Play eraser-shape style, and don't even get me started on all of the funky hairstyles that Snoop Dogg has come up with. White people only wish that they could do that. We ALL know that black people are cooler, including their hair. What do you care what some uptight boss thinks. If it were up to them we'd all be dressed like we were going to a funeral. It's time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and love your curly black hair!

Not everyone takes pride in their apperance but its always fun to stare at the ones who do!! (hints you) Dont worry about whose judging whose hair. I've never been impressed by any hair-do that looks like the "just rolled out of bed look" and that has never had anything to do with their hair type, just a reflection of their self esteem. P.S. Hot Mama! LOL

We are all different. Not only the differences in race, such as hair and features and skin color....but "everyone" is different, even within their own race. People with straight hair, want curly and visa verso. If a person is short, they want to be tall....we are all blessed to be the way we are.

now a days most of the people has become more extrovert than introvert, thus not fully satisfied with the grace of nature, this is happening not only in the west, but east also, most probably round the globe, people have forgotten that inner beauty matters most, since it is full of eternal fragrence.

I LOVE MY HAIR !!!!!!!!!
I've been natural since 2000 and I usually wear my hair in natural twists and I ALWAYS get compliments from ALL races of people. I think it's exotic and bohemian and I wouldn't change it for anything !!

People have a hard time accepting things they find different sometimes... Personally, sometimes I find those differences the most appealing physical features about a person.

Don't take offense to this because it shouldn't matter what others think anyways, But it is probably because they think it looks kinda big and crazy like a clown wig looks.
Mine annoys me too though. It is really long, blonde and REALLY wavy. But the waves dont always cooperate and go in a good direction at times. Mine is crazy looking too at times.
No offense though. I have nothing against Black people. Just trying to answer your question.
