Many are happy. Hillary is considered by many to be a polarizing figure. People who hate her, really hate her. In the latest Time poll, Rudy Giuliani (the Republican front runner who is considered a weak candidate for the GOP) would beat Hillary if the general election were held that day. However, according to the same poll, Barack Obama would beat Giuliani if he were the candidate.
In the latest CBS poll, Hillary's favorability rating is only 33% compared to 42% unfavorable (-9%). Barack Obama is 31% favorable compared to 17% unfavorable (+14%). John Edwards is 24%/25% (-1%).
Hillary and her people are skilled and experienced politicians with the ability to raise money and campaign well. She is also a famous celebrity and her husband is a former president who was very popular. That is why she is the front runner, even though she certainly isn't the most popular democrat among voters.

While many republicans are happy that Hillary is the front runner, their joy is probably misplaced. The winners in current presidential elections don't tend to be the best for the job. The winners are the ones who can make the political machine run the best. Hillary not only has the best name recognition and experience from 8 years as a first lady, but, most importantly, she has huge political connections with big business, powerful people, and loyal contributors. She will have the largest war chest of any politcal contender this year. This will allow her to spend her time on politicking, instead of raising money.
Also, since elections are only run "between the forty yard lines", many people will be tempted to vote for a woman, regardless of her party, simply to eliminate white male stereotypes.

If she wins the democratic nomination, we will have the same lame choices we have had in the past three to four elections. Two very bad candidates, one from each of the two radical wings. Doesn't make for a very appetizing choice.
Hanging around waiting for a REAL centrist candidate.

We're ecstatic!!! Wheeee, hallelujah, Nothing could be finer, Now that the so called party for the minority has shone it's colors, i.e. dismissed the candidate of color as not black enough, we can't help but be very pleased for Billary. Poor guy, probably is a qualified candidate, but the Clinton "War Machine" will probably destroy him.

I am she is a figure everyone loves to vote against. Which is
why she fled to New York to get elected. The People in other states were not as gullible.

If she's elected, she will try, and maybe succeed, in turning this country into a socialist republic! Which goes against everything that is American! She made it clear that if she's elected there will be socialized healthcare!

I do not assoc myself with a party, becasue I think they are all weasels, however, I wish I could vote ( I AM CANADIAN) for Hilary. Whatever it takes to get Bush out. And it would be a great step for the future to have a woman as pres.
In response to another answer...she will bring people out of the woodwork to vote FOR her
