It really depends on the company. I've taken my own coffee to interviews and was offered a job the next day.
However, unless you are sure it's okay (like if it's a second interview). Gulp as much as possible, leave the tumbler in your car, pop some breath mints. And with any luck the receptionist will offer you coffee or water when you get in there.
By the way, I honestly don't care if people bring their own coffee. Early morning interviews mean that half the people you meet with will also have a to-go starbucks on their desk.

First of all, I think it would be rude to bring your own drink , unless the interviewer offers you some. I think it's too casual to bring your own drink to the site for something serious such as a job interview.
Second of all, you should be there to give a good impression. I don't generally like to drink anything that would affect my breath, and coffee DOES impart your breath. Why take the chance?
It is natural to feel a bit nervous, nothing wrong with it. I think if you are showing nervousness by moving your hands or even shaking, you can hide it a bit by putting your hands down below a table/desk. It's probably not a good idea to have something to 'occupy your hands' in plain sight, because it could be distracting to them.
Hope this is helpful, and good luck with your interviews!

Oh, yeah...it's rude. No coffee, gum, bringing in lunch, taking medication, smoking (or fidgeting because you can't), hard candy, or anything else that says you have a fixation you can't live without. I would immediately write off someone who walked in with a coffee mug. And if your hands need occupation during an interview I don't really want to know that, either.
Drink your coffee before the interview, and be prepared to last for at least an hour without a bathroom break, either. You're there to be inspected for a job, not to kibbutz like you're at the local Starbucks.
Sorry.

I'm in management and have conducted over 500 interviews in my previous HR work.
Don't bring the coffee to the interview!! Leave it in the car.
When you go into an interview, anything and everything you do will be evaluated. So, what type of a message are you stating to your prospective employer if you have to have that cup of coffee while talking to them on an important meeting.
Bringing a beverage in to the interview gives a very poor impression of someone.
However, if a manager offers you a coffee, that's okay, but it would be very rude, considered poor etiquette, and would be one of those hiring stories that managers talk about "You wouldn't believe what one of the people did at my job interview today!!"
After all, do you want to leave an impression with your prospective boss that you are a caffeine-a-holic, and can't go an hour without drinking a cup of coffee??

Leave it in the car, better yet drink it before you go. Coffee also can make people nervous, jittery. If I were doing the interview, it would look to me like you were coming in to chat with a pal- an interview is not a social call. Keep it business like. Hopefully they will offer you some which you then can politely accept. Good luck to you!

Wrong. You do not take a prop in for an interview. No drinks, no snacks, no lunch, nothing to eat or drink, and do not chew gum. If you came into see me for an interview, I would not talk to you very long. This is very unprofessional and would be very distracting. Please do not take anything in like this except your resume. Sit up straight and wear your prettiest smile. When asked questions, answer in complete sentences or words. Do not use yeh, huh, mmmm, or sound words. If you do have a travel mug with you, bring a bag large enough to put it into. Good luck with your interviews.

It could also be a way to spill coffee all over the desk and paperwork of the person doing the interview.
Leave it in the car. Why take chances?
And... I hope the interviews go well.

Drink your coffee on the way there, don't know what type of company your interview is at, but maybe they'll offer you something to drink.
good luck!

Best of Luck!!!
