We know how many people are on the Earth today. How many have ever lived on it?

Well, it would be an estimate.

The figure for how many people are alive today is an estimate, too; though probably a good one.

I bet people have.

You might try going to the UN's web site, and poking around in their population data.

www.un.org -- it might be spelled out in the url, but you could use your favorite search engine.

You might try Wikipedia.

Or just try some searches "Total human population" refine it, if that doesn't work, "over time".

Another thing you could do is estimate it. There are graphs and sets of data with estimates of human population over time.

You'd have to make a lot of assumptions, such as how many years to count.

Of course, there's going to be an arbitrary cut off, as far as when you start counting. Mitochondrial Eve, I suppose.

But, since most of the time we've been here there really weren't many of us compared to now, it doesn't matter that so much would be iffy.

The 8 billion someone else said seemed low to me at first, since we're over 6 billion now, but then, we haven't been in the billions range for very long.

that cant be answered due to the whole science vs religeon
theory... either evolution or adam and eve.... therefore no one knows
