I do admitt I could get more sleep but that is not an option... I am just a night person plus I talk on the phone. I go the bed around 11pm or 12am and wake up around 6am. I have 5 alarm clocks and nothing seems to work. Every day I am getting up about 7:30 which is what time I should be at school. I have a ton of detentions for being late... how can I get up earlier?

Sorry to say, but the only thing that will make you wake up on time is to get to bed early!

L - we are two peas in a pod, i tell you! i am the crankiest in the morning. however, being a teacher means being on time for work. i actually got written up for being late, it was such a problem. and that was the last time i was late. i am a night person too. i like to stay up till 12 and my alarms - both of them - go off at 6. so, either convince yourself to get up when the alarm goes off (that is what i do) or be stuck with detentions. is there someone at home who can force you out of bed? that works for me too. i also liked the other answers about the hearing impaired products (i am going to check that out) and the one about sleeping on the weekends. i do a LOT of that.

Have multiple alarms and put the one that rings last all the way across the room. I have 3 alarms that wake me up in the morning, one right beside my bed (5:30), my cell phone (6:00), and then another alarm all the way across the room (6:10).. that gets me up :)

i hate waking up, too. i try to think about how i can sleep later in the day when i get home from work. it is enough to drag my sorry butt out of bed, and i never really lay down later in the day. i also think about the weekend when i can sleep in.
basically, it's a mental thing for me. good luck. mornings suck

This actually works for me if I have something really important to get up for.

When I am going to sleep I just say over and over "I will get up at whatever hour"

I have the same problem. Good luck.

Well, I am hearing impaired....you can order a little thingie to put under you pillow and you set the time that you want it to go off and it will vibrate your pillow....

Or get a gizmo that turns your light (the one in your room) on and off until you get up and hit the lite switch.

Go to a google search about hearing impaired stuff

My dog is trained to wake me up when my alarm goes off....she paws at me until I sit up and shut it off....if I then lay back down she keeps tapping at me with her paw until I do get up so I don't stand a chance with her here.

My son had the same problem, up until I put an extremely loud air horn under his bed. I never knew he could move so fast. I went to do it to him the second day, I hit the air button, and I almost flew. He had hidden the horn right next to the button, and got me back.

Have you been checked for sleep disorder? My friend's son has a kind of sleep disorder that makes it absolutely impossible for him to "get himself" up...he's married now, to a worthless young lady who doesn't think it's her problem, so his daddy has to drive 12 miles one way to get him up every morning, so he doesn't lose his job. He has medication to help, but it only works so long.
