Some alarms have a valet switch to only work the door locks/disable the alarm portion. (alpine comes to mind) If you know where the brain for the alarm is, you can try to find a small switch which should be a single pole single throw that springs back to one way. Hold it/flip it for a few seconds and try the alarm again.

Does the regular horn in the car work? The keyless entry on the honda uses the car's horn to sound the alarm. if the horn is burnt out then the alarm won't sound.

If your remote has a red bar below the buttons that says "Panic" you can press and hold that button for at least two seconds to trigger the alarm. If the lights flash but the horn doesn't sound, the problem is with the horn. If nothing works, the problem is with the security system.

the keyless remote on that car was a dealer installed option. There is a service bulletin on a problem with the control unit for the accessory installed security system: If the security system control unit is at fault, you can ask your dealer to contact Honda for goodwill assistance if the following bulletin applies as your car is out of warranty.

Accessory Security System Changes Modes By Itself
Bulletin 05-025
SYMPTOM
The security system will not arm or it arms by itself.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Key switch contact chatter causes the control unit to
change modes.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Civic: Replace the security control unit, and reprogram
the remote(s).

Hope that helps

baye the button is sticking for arming the car. but isn't the arm/ lock button, the same? try a new remote, might cost you like $50. go to honda and see if they can try a new one for you, and if its the problem, buy the remote. also look into getting extra remotes on EBAY for real cheap and having honda re-program it for you.
