Describe the three different ways in which a line and a plane may be situated with respect to each other.

1) A line may lie in a plane. In this case all the points of the line are in the plane.

2) A line may intersect a plane at one point.

3) A line may be parallel to the plane. In this case they would have no points in common.

The x axis of the line must be the same as that of the plane, if the line is to be situated so that it does not leave the plane.

The z axis of the line can be any value and still stay within the plane.

The y axis of the line must be equal to the x axis (0) if the line is not to leave the plane.
