Why? Are you trying to repatriated the descendants of those slaves back to the countries they came from in an effort to set things right? If so I’m with you.

I can't be sure about the numbers, but all were imported from that flat part of Africa stretching (nowadays) from Liberia through Nigeria, after being taken captive by their more enterprising fellows. During the slave-trading years none of these had a notion of becoming a country. Anyhow the trade centred on the Bight of Benin and didn't wander much off it. Which of course makes the study of Swahili in US schools absurd, as none of the slaves would have understood a word of it.

The amusing thing is that the slaves were sold into slavery by other african tribes, yet we always hear the English an Americans were at fault. Their own people did it!
