i would like to know first
is motherboard's specification really important in overall system's performance.
i am buying
Core 2 duo 1.8
2 GB DDR2 667
19" Wide screen TFT
250 GB Sata
sony writer etc
as i dont want to use SLI or i dont want to over clock at all.
i am thinking to buy basic series board which is
intel D945GCL which supports everything.
should i consider this and will this board minimize my computer's performance ?

Board quality has a pretty big impact on overall perfomance. Personally, I would use a Intel 965 chip motherboard because they have more features. I actually build a similar system for my business, have a look below.

The boards doesn't really change the speed of the cpu, memory, etc. Just features. Just look for reviews. Use a 965 chipset as one suggested, better choice. 975 would be an overkill. In this review:

You can see the proof of no difference.
You didn't mentioned what video card or if you're gaming at all. If not gaming or any cpu intensive apps, just get a AMD machine. If gaming, you need to get get best video card you can get.

Yes it is important, the days which boards have identical performance spec is way behind us now; although you didn't specify what tasks are expected to perform with this assembly. If you want light tasks only (no gaming nor photo processing) you can buy anything that hits your fancy in primary market, no homework needed unless you venture into flee markets.

I would ditch Widescreen for Normal screen TFT, cost would veto the Wide/Normal shibang.
