In the first 100 days of the Democrat controlled House, this "do nothing" congress accomplished more than twice as many recorded votes (189) as Republicans held in recent years when they were in the majority; almost twice as many days in session (48); and more than double the number of bills passed (24).

So much for that Republican talking point.

That do nothing congress you keep hearing about was defeated in the last election.

There's a lot of desperation and hysteria coming from the right, eh?

Can't blame them... they thought for a while there that they had gotten rid of the greatest system of government in the history of the world. The government of,by and for the people!

You must be talking about the 109th Congress that left 11 of 13 2007 appropriations bills for the 110th Congress to take care of. They are long gone.

Oh, I see. You were being sarcastic.

I haven't called them do-nothing. I have said the Liberals around here are constantly ranting about things their Congress haven't mentioned.

And the stuff they are doing is wrong.

But do-nothing? NO. Do nothing right, maybe.

And maybe the Hokey Pokey is what it's really all about.

And then a step to the right.
With your hands on your hips.

The actual "do nothing Congress" was the last one. They actually worked less days than the Congress in the late forties and early fifties that was the first to be coined as the "do nothings" by President Truman.

And what did they actually pass?

You rave about what they "passed" but what was it? Just because the kook House passes it doesn't make it law.
It all died in the Senate. Except the recent Iraq pork bill. Which that veto pen will kill that

So much for your spin job

Because they are not doing what Bush and the noecons want. Of course, that is precisely what they were elected to do. They were elected to (as much as possible) stop Bush from doing anything other than watch TV for the next two years.
