I'm only a sophomore. And I heard teachers talking about the PSAT. And I had no idea what they were talking about so I just let it fly by. Now that they're over. I made a hugeee mistake.

I was wondering is it still too late to take the PSAT?
can i still do a PSAT in junior year or is too late.

I'm really worried. And also my brother told me that since I didn't take PSAT that means I can't apply for colleges out of state ..is that true?

THANKS!

No, your brother is not right. No college looks at your PSAT scores. The PSAT is a preliminary form of the SAT. It is designed to give you practice taking SAT-style tests and to give you some idea of how you might do, but unlike the SAT, it does not assume that you have taken junior-level classes already. Traditionally, the PSAT was given to juniors. I don't know if they are only giving it to sophomores now, but you can ask if it is possible to take it as a junior (ask your high school counselor). And even if you missed it, the only test which really matters is the SAT, and you haven't missed that. Just make sure that from now on, you listen to your teachers and ask for explanations if you don't understand, instead of ignoring them! Don't worry; your future is still safe, and your opportunities are limitless.

Any Honors Sophmores or all Juniors can take the PSAT. It's not really important other than it's a WONDERFUL practice test. Your brother is completely wrong about applying to colleges out of state. You can apply to ANY college no matter WHAT kinds of tests you've taken. That doesn't mean you'll get accepted, obviously. Don't worry about it... the PSATs are usually during the fall semester. Just pay attention to your school announcements next year for information regarding PSAT registration.

The PSAT is properly offered to Juniors. It is a test which helps you assess your preparedness for the SAT's and can get you on college mailing lists. It also helps you qualify for the National Merit Scholarship or other shoclarships. By itself, though, it is not necessary -- colleges don't much care about your PSAT scores.

It is given in (approx.) October of the Junior year -- some schools let sophomores take it to get them ready for the Junior year administration but it means even less to 10th graders.

the college board also has offered the PSSS which is like a practice PSAT. Pretty worthless on most levels.

Our school gave it free to the sophomores. The junior had to pay because it was for some merit scholarship award. the PSAT is a practice SAT so colleges won't look at it. I also think that the freshman might have been able to take it, but I'm not completely sure.

The PSAT is the prepare attempt for the SAT. while you're interior the 11th grade (that's basically prepare interior the 10th grade), it is likewise the attempt that could qualify you to be a countrywide benefit student. you do no longer ought to take the PSAT, you are going to be able to choose for to take it. that's stable practices so as which you will as properly bypass forward and take the attempt.
