How do you find an equation for an ellipse with the given below:
major axis is 20
focal points (3, -6) and (-3, 2)
"Leave anwers in terms of radicals"

I suspect this is mis-typed? Check the focal points. Did you forget (or misplace) a negative? Most curricula don't deal with tilted ellipses.

If the information is correct as given, the ellipse is not oriented with either the x or y axis but is at an angle to both. Please check the coordinates of the foci to see if they are correct. Should the foci be either

(-3, -6) and (-3, 2)
or
(3, -6) and (3, 2)?
