The males are the slimmer fish and usually a little smaller than the females. The females will get quite fat or heavy bodied when they are full of eggs and ready to breed. They don't really get pregnant, they ly the eggs then the male fertilizes them.

Here's a picture, the male is the top fish.

Females are a little larger with a blockier body and have a heavier build. The males are slightly smaller and more streamlined.

You can usually tell when the female is full of eggs by her shape, she gets really heavy from the pectoral fins back to her anal fin. Her stomach will get huge.

You typically need to have a school of them to get them to spawn. The tank must have a lot of leafy plants in it so they can scatter the eggs in amongst the leaves.

Other fish and snails will eat the eggs. Most fish, including the parents, will eat the fry (babies) after they hatch.

this was a tuff one for me too,is still can't tell exactly who's who but;

females are usually larger and more full-bodied than the males. Males are more slender and sleek and tend to be smaller and more vibrant in color that goes for leopard Danio's as well
