um obviously the Toronto maple leafs they are and they always will be the best team in the NHL

well there's actually 3 spots available in the Eastern Conference NYR 6th 87pts, TB 7th 86pts, Habs 8th 86pts, Leafs 9th 84pts, Islanders 10th 84pts, Canes 11th 84pts. this is a very close battle for all teams. Islanders are hurting since DiPietro went down and the Canes have fallen in the past week. but this teams play each other 1 or 2 more time the rest of the season so this game are very important and its just which team wants it more will be in the playoffs.
by the way teams have been playing lately, im not saying its going to continue but i think TB will finish 6th Habs will finish 7th and the NYR will finish 8th. just the was these teams have been playing lately. yes the Leafs have been also playing good hockey but if the teams in front of you keep winning your not gaining anything. the Habs beat the Rangers and still have another game vs NYR. and it could easily go down right to the wire when the Habs face the Leafs in the final game of the season. anything can happen.

New york rangers for 7th spot and Montreal canadians for 8th spot but things can change alot before the playoffs everyone is very close

The Rangers are in the 6th spot right now so there's room for two other teams.I think it will be the Lightning and Hurricanes.

I'm a Leafs fan but I think they'd squeeze in at 8th, maybe. I'd have to go with either tampa bay or montreal for 7th, but it depends... for some reason this season it seems like montreal is doing significantly better at home than away. I'm going to go with TB, they have lecavalier and st. louis.

The Rangers because they have Jagr and good goaltending. I would say the Isls too, but Di Pietro is injured so I will say the maple leafs because they have some pretty good scorers.
