How would I round 1097.25 to only 3 sig figs?

if I put 110, wouldn't that throw off from the real answer? so should it be like 1110?

You need to write it in scientific notation, so it would be

1.10 x 10^3 Otherwise you would not be accounting for proper significant figures.

110 has only 2 significant figures -- the zero isn't significant, because there isn't a decimal. The best way to write it would be to put the number in scientific notation. The answer is 1.10x10^3 (thats 1.10 times ten to the positive three).
