One of America's most pressing issues is having republicans holding any public office. We can't afford their incompetence and corruption anymore.

Judging from the pages here at Yahoo answers, America seems to face many pressing problems.

But one of them jumps out at me, and it is not the war in Iraq.
That one is a lost cause now, nobody has ever won a war against a well funded guerilla movement if they have enough
support among the population.
You'll be flying bodybags home as long as you keep troops on the ground. ( a sad and sobering truth ).

The most pressing problem is the division of America along
partisan lines, the amount of bad mouthing going on on this
forum between Republicans and Democrats is discraceful.
There seems to be no respect for the other sides points
of view whatsoever.

And all this seems to be stemming from the Republicans having been unable to depose Clinton after Monicagate.
Then they got there revenge, and thereafter another vitriolic
controversial election followed,
Very generous doses of salt were rubbed into fresh wounds,
and now that the Democrats have the upper hand I expected
them to be a bit wiser, but no! ,they also seem Hell Bent to get their own back. Time for sweet revenge !, again.

This is understandable, but where does it leave America?.
If you keep this mudslinging up for the next 2 years, how
friendly you think relationships will be by the time you've
elected a new president ?.

Faith and Trust in politicians,Congress and the Senate will be
at an all time low.

Respect for the Office of the President of the United States which used to mean something will be eroded away.

Whoever the poor man or woman will be who gets landed with this job can rest assured that about half the nation will
hate your guts no matter what you do.
So that is the pressing problem.

And you Americans as a nation will have to solve this one before you can go and tackle any other problem, either abroad or at home.
And I don't wanna hear any more nonsense about Democrats being ' traitors ' or Republicans being War Hungry Idiots.

Jonn Hancock did not sign the Declaration of Independence
with a broad, confident, bold and defiant autograph for America to slip down to this level of pettyness.

So get of your asses and do something about it.

Political correctness and the mind set that there are no absolutes only shades of gray. Nothing anyone does is bad and if it is if they say they are sorry then it's ok unless they are republican that is. The liberal way of thinking that if we just ignore and leave the Middle East the Islamo fascists will just leave us alone. the way the left thinks about these people is very dangerous especially if they gain even more power by winning the white house. Someone needs to get on illegal immigration too. The way it is is just ridiculous. Calling an illegal alien an undocumented worker is like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist. I don't think Iraq or any war is any presidents "pet project" but protecting the rights of individual freedom is part of his job.

The single most pressing problem is that Washington politicans {all party's} have no clue as to the real situations affecting regular citizens. They listen to "special interests" lobbyists and are too interested in getting re-elected to do what is in the best interest of the average American. Two more problems are close behind; global warming and over-population. These two effect the world, but in my grandchildren's lifetime these will hit America very hard.

Healthcare, Minimum Wage (sort of taken care of), Tax, keeping jobs in America...and i think the most important problem that for some reason no one really talks about is the National Debt, we owe 9 TRILLION DOLLARS, and a lot of that is owed to China...they could litterally collapse our economy and then everything else wouldn't really matter

other minor issues are reforming of the military (it needs an overhaul equipment is breaking etc.) the political system needs to be depoliticized (lobbying etc.) redoing the tax system since it cost so much to even enforce

It is not Bushes "pet project" as you call it.It is a BIG part of the war on terror,or have you forgotten 9/11??? Please tell me you aren't a member of Charlies Brigade!!!! I think Americas most pressing problem right now is stopping the dumbocrats from surrendering Iraq to the terrorists.Next in line is the idiotic legislation proposed by Ted Kennedy and John McCain to give illegals amnesty!!! And finally, our biggest threat right now is the ugly head of Socialism proposed by the Hillary Clinton's of the world. That is frikkin scary!!!!!

The War on Terror is pressing, because innocent Americans have already been killed in it, because of the 9/11 attacks. Babymurdering becoming legal is not good. Gay marriage is against the Bible and unethical. We need to stop supporting kooks who have sex at 15 and live off welfare forever, we need to restore the value of work and stop hero-worshiping freaks like rappers who only extol how good sex is with 20 different people, not the virtues of a well-led life.

You mean, besides the all-encompassing stupidity and general lack of any accurate, independent thought in the general populace?

Well, those issues aside, I'd have to say the more pressing problem is the pending economic collapse that will be brought on by a Democratic-controlled Congress and Presidency.

But of course, they are tightly related.

Please keep in mind the Iraq war started in 1991. After 12 years of No-Fly Zones and bombings, troops were sent in in 2003. So in reality, this is the pet project of three presidents.

Tolerance, or a lack of. Hard core Christians and right-wingers are anti-gay marriage, many people are against African Americans, Middle Easterns, Hispanics, ect.
