Atlantis is just a spin off. It definatly had a couple good seasons but I never loved it like SG1. Besides who will the city of Atlantis be talking to on the home front?

Who knows... maybe they'll have guest apperances from SG-1 people. Atlantis could be good on it's own. Anyway... they have to defeat the wraith before they can even think of ending it.

You really think SG-1 fans won't go over to Atlantis when Amanda will be in half of the season?? Chris Judge is already planned to make an appearance in Doppleganger I think...one of the first few epis. And I'm sure there will plenty of sg-1 stars un the 4th season. Look how many times RDA guest starred in season 3.

And I can't imagine Rob, Brad, Joe and Paul not giving Atlantis an extra load of sg-1 guest stars in the next season.

And besides...stargate is stargate...in any way or form. Whether in SG-1, SGA or in this new series that will air sometime in 2008, Stargate: Universe. And besides...Sci-Fi may have made a mistake cancelling SG-1, but they are smarter than they look.

They will be airing Atlantis with this new series Painkiller Jane for the rest of both seasons this year...then they will probably air it with a new series this fall when season 4 begins. They did the same thing with BSG when its ratings were falling...moved it to Sunday with a new series, The Dresden Files.

And seeing as that season 4 will be the best season on SGA yet....I can't imagine it getting great ratings nest season. With 2 new major bad guys, new characters, new ship and the great finale they had this season...season 4 is going to be amazing.

Well, it's getting a boost by adding Carter to the regular cast next season. Also, they've finally introduced bad guys I'm interested in; the Asurans. They will still be talking to SG-1, it's not like the team is disbanding, it's just the show that ended. Just wait, SG-1 will keep getting better, especially in the two upcoming movies "The Ark of Truth" and "Continuum" coming directly to DVD this fall. Atlantis won't die.

Oh and I almost forgot, Teal'c will make a cameo appearance in Season 4 as well!

One of the cast members from SG1 will go to Stargate Atlantis.

I think that it can last on its own for a while. It is after all a separate show with a whole differane plot line and characters. Plus Amanda Tapping will be joining the Atlantis team in season 4.

jack said most of what I had to say, but as much as I like farscape, SG1 hasn't been as good, there was a few shows, but it isn't the same with out jack. I like the atlantis more and more as time has gone on. Kinda like Deep Space 9, it is darker, and has more room then their parent show.

It can last on its on for a few seasons. Just because SG1 isn't on doesn't mean that they can't still pull in the characters if they need them for specific shows. It's not like they are actors who are going to go out and get huge jobs right away.

I think it will last a few more seasons. It is going to last 10 seasons like SG-1, but I can see it going as high as 6 seasons. Plus, they are considering a second spin-off as well. We will have to wait and see about that though.
