Even though its not really classified as a horror film, I would have to say David Lynch's Eraserhead. Kubrick's version of The Shining is a close second.
I LOATHE modern movies so don't expect to see anything on my list like Scream or Saw. I think those are an abomination to true horror.

Many.Though,I really like Clive Barker's stuff like Candyman and Hellraiser. He has a way with mixing gore and psychological horror.Last House on the Left is the most disturbing I've seen. The Shining and The Exorcist are 2 others.A Nightmare on Elmstreet is one I grew up loving.
I really like any horror except the new stuff. It's too much CGI and "spooky" effects.I can't take it seriously.Though, suspense films have gotten better.

Scream probably, just because its a bit sarcastic with its excessive violence and plot twists, which every cliched horror movie use. it also brought back the slasher genre, which had basically died in the early 90's, and without it many slasher movies today may not exist
I also liked Saw, but the second wasnt as good(havent seen the 3rd). The first was excellent though.

Wild Hogs. It was kinda scary that they had 4 comedian actors in one movie.

The original Black and White "Night of the Living Dead." There is nothing like watching it on Halloween night.
Boo! Watch your back! And your neck. And your eyes!
