While I'm a strong Republican, I'm interested in Obama Barak. He seems like a man of character. What top strengths you see in his presidential bid? I think that he will is the best Democrat nomination for President .. do you agree?

Let's be nice to John McCain as he has earned much respect for his service to this country. Also, let's be nice to Rumsfeld and Cheney, as I am only evaluating the positive Presidential qualities of Obama at this time. Thanks.

You know, the rhyming issue was the first thing to come to my mind when I first learned about him, but then I realized that such thinking needlessly denies us many options. In a way, it allows our worst enemies to control us.

I first heard of Barack Obama when he was on The Daily Show and I thought...Wow...what an intelligent, articulate guy! He piqued my interest, right from the start. For the first time in my life, I am seriously considering doing what I can to work on his campaign. I like that his money-raising efforts are mainly grassroot efforts...he is trying to raise the most in the number of donations, which means a lot of small donations from average voters, not a few large ones from corporations or groups seeking something for the money they give. I also like the fact that he has little experience. That means he hasn't been exposed to the corruption of Washington. And I also like the common sense approach he makes. I really, truly feel like he cares about what happens to America and to the average person. I, personally, think he is just what America needs right now.

You know what's so funny? The very people who say "he doesn't have enough experience" are the same ones who voted for George Bush! Hello? And if you look at the combined years of experience of Rumsfeld and Cheney, I think you can conclude that having experience does not equal competence, wisdom, efficiency or good judgment. So...enough about that.
We don't really know enough yet about any of the candidates, but we all should keep an eye on each of them and really listen to what they have to say about the important issues that are facing our country. I see so many people on here who seem to make up their mind based on either party affiliation alone or gender or race or someone's name. That's not very intelligent.
Barack had a wealth of experience in community organizing in Chicago; he bridges the black and white communities, the young and old communities, and I believe he can bridge the red and blue states. I see him as a man who wants to actually BE a uniter and help all Americans find their common ground--which we have a lot of--so that we can move forward with solving the problems our country faces. He also seems to be a man of integrity and a man who has a vision for our future. Those are good qualities. I like it that he straightforwardly stands up for what he believes and doesn't seem to be reading polls all the time as most politicians do. I used to respect John McCain, but when he sold his soul and principles to the devil so he could be president, I lost that respect.
So he could be a good president, perhaps. But I intend to listen and watch carefully for the next year or so and read a lot and then make up my own mind.

Obama hasn't been in hard-core politics very long, so he is still, for lack of a better word, Human. Other policians both left and right have lost sight of what is really important. Being an African American, he can subconsiously lead us on our journey to become totally tolerant. He seems honest, a man of character, not a liar and a cheat.

Why would we want the next president's name following 9-11 to rhyme with the person responsible for 9-11? That would be like Iraq's people electing someone named Georsef Bushef
By the way, his ancestors on his mother's side of the family owned slaves. He should not be president because of that.

He is a new Senator from IL and he might be good as a VP, but for president I'd go with John Edwards.

well, since you call yourself an ardent republican...I'd just like to inform you that Barack Obama is the most liberal candidate based on his voting record in the Senate. He seems like a nice enough person...but 2 years in the senate just doesn't cut it for me. You have to give me more than "articulate black fella".
