Every simester I always get F's in history, but the highest grade that I ever got was a D-. Is it because the IB team has more advanced work or is it just me? IB means international baceloria program. Please, I need an answer now!!!

History is not hard, think of it this way, you can best predict the future by looking at that past. Maybe your just not trying hard enough, if you don't understand ask the teacher or your classmates. As far as an IB program, it may be harder work, but history is something you just need to make a connection to.

Oh my sweetheart- I know how you feel. I have taught English and Social Studies for a number of years and when I was younger - I'll be honest, I hated 'history'. My teachers were boring, were only interested in dates - had a regular routine and would not step aside from it. When I became a teacher - not only was studying history different - but we have INTERNET. There is no reason you should not be having fun - surfing the net. Look - you might have a boring teacher, but get your history book and look at the time periods you are studying - it's always the same (how the continents came together, the Indians walking over the ice to the US (as we know it), the Pilgrims, etc. etc. Go on line. There are many topics you can read and even take your own 'tests' to examine how much you know. Make it fun for you. It's not just you - but YOU have to change your attitude about the subject in order to get a handle on it - and make it work for you. I hate math - I hate analogies - but I go on line and I take the little quizzes and do the exercises everyday - to make myself prevail. You have to do the same - history is fun - you are making history every day you live - it's up to you what you will do with it. Check the time periods - then look up what was going on - in the world during that time. Sometimes, when we as teachers focus on say - "Vietnam War' that's only one part - what I learned to do was help my kids see what was going on in the world so they can relate - example - what were we dancing to? Who was the hottest recording artist? What kind of clothes were we wearing? Who was president? Who made the biggest mistakes- I'm telling you - w hen my kids started looking into the world and what was going on - they passed every test I gave them. History can be fun. Change your attitude and surf the net - find some happening stuff that interests you that was going on - you'll remember more th an you'll ever know and you'll have more to talk about than any other person in the room. It works.........good luck.
