Where can I find a reasonably credible table for equivalent costs and wages in the US over the years?

For instance if a tin of beer cost 10 cents in 1890, what is that in today's costs?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has a calculator that converts dollars from one year into the equivalent dollars of another. It's at the link below.

It only goes back to 1913 though.
