Earlyer I asked a question on politics, and from people on the left, all I got was ridacule, and condemnation because of my spelling. I was never able to finish high school because I had to work to keep my family together after we lost our parents, I helped to raise three sisters, and a brother, and even helped to send two of them to collage. Abraham Lincion was the one who helped put a end to slavery, he was republican, In the 60's and 70's the republicans were standing behind Martin Luther King in the civil rights movement in this country, while the Dem's were against it, Ronald Regan exsteaned the rights for blacks in this country to vote, it wasn't Jimmy Carter. So why is it it has come to the point that they are now the more tolerant, when all you here them doing is calling people names, and never, ever talking about issues, and calling others intollerant? Just watch the answers to this question, and you'll see what I mean.

While there is no excuse for making fun of people who have a legitimate reason for what they do, I wonder if you had let these facts that you just presented be known on your previous postings, would you have received the same response? We will never know. As to your claim about the tolerance exhibited by the Republicans, how much do you really feel that the party of today has in common with the Republicans of the civil rights era? You claim tolerance, but were is your tolerance for the gays, the poor, Democrats, non-Christians? Tolerance must be exhibited across the board, not just as you see fit.

There are intolerant people at both ends of the spectrum. =(
When controversial topics come up, it can get easy to resort to personal attacks in the heat of the moment. The people who ridiculed you could just as well have been from the left or the right...it just happened that they were from the left because those were the ones that disagreed with your political views (I'm assuming you're conservative, sorry if I'm wrong).
Very small side note: There's a "Check Spelling" button at the top of the box when you type in a question - that might be useful if people are being distracted by spelling mistakes.

Tolerant means allowing diversity and differences. As opposed to requiring conformity.
As a side note, your history is off. Back in the 1800s, the Republicans were the liberals. Their mindset and goals have changed over the centuries. And the individual Democrats who stood against civil rights left that party and became Neo- Conservatives. Don't take my word for it. Read your history.

The Liberals in this country donate less money and time to charities than Conservatives, but they scream the loudest about how we should help the less fortunate. This, in their minds, gives them the moral high ground. Al Gore travels the world talking about how Global Warming is destroying our planet and urging conservation to lower greenhouse gasses while using 20 times the average amount of electricity in one of his 4 palatial homes. Barbara Streisand promotes conservation while having her 12,000 square foot barn air conditioned. Jane Fonda curses America for helping to delay the invasion of South Viet Nam by the communist North and praises the Peace Loving Peoples Of North Viet Nam for invading the south and murdering over 3 million people after the withdrawal of American troops.
These Liberals have an idology that has nothing to do with reality and any time you disagree with them they resort to insults. If you want to liberate an oppressed people like South Viet Nam or Iraq then you are a warmonger. If you don't believe wholeheartedly in Global Warming then you are a stooge of the oil companies. If you build a house or furniture or anything made of wood then you are a tree murderer. Arrest illegal immigrants and send them back home or refuse to give them full rights as American citizens including free medical and college touition then you are inhumane. Arrest terrorists and detain them with better care than we do American prisoners and you are a torturer. I could go on and on but you see the drift. If a liberal has an idea no matter how far fetched or wrong it is he is right and we all must knuckle under and do as they say, even if it destroys our country. If we don't then since reality is on our side then they must stoop to insult to defend their position. Just like two 6 year olds arguing. When one is losing and has no facts to support his side her starts screaming at the top of his lungs "You're wrong cause you're stupid."

First off, my grandmother was the one that taught me the value of good spelling and grammar and she dropped out of 8th grade to care for her 5 younger sisters after her mother died during childbirth and her dad walked out. Education continues throughout your entire life, not just while in school.
Second, Lincoln's effort to free the slaves was in response to the south forming the Confederacy. And the reason they did that was because the federal government wouldn't allow them to count the male slaves for determining the number of Representatives to Congress. The south was looking for leverage and more power in Congress. The civil war was a major power play and slavery was the arbitrary pivot point.
Now, am I to take it that you think Ronald Reagan gave the blacks the right to vote? That's what it sounds like. Blacks got the right to vote by virtual of the Emancipation Proclamation.
I'm not sure what your issues with "tolerance" are but what I've seen is that we aren't asked to tolerate, there is a demand to accept and embrace Ideas, Ideals and Actions that counter my core beliefs yet to say you're willing to be tolerant but not accepting makes you intolerable, bigoted, racist or unpatriotic.
BTW: I'm republican but I vote solely for people and never for parties.

Don't worry. You should not judge someone based on their religious or political beliefs. I'm left in most senses but I consider myself libertarian.
To that extent though, your spelling is not bad at all, especially if you did not finish high school. It just takes some practice. Your best bet is to chat and debate online a lot. I've obtained most if not all of my knowledge and wisdom through it. It's an effective method, trust me. :)

Most of them are intellectual snobs. They think argument-um ad hominem is a valid argument, because they are too mentally lame to construct a valid one.
Many still foam at the mouth over all the evil things that Reagan ostensibly did: They talk about how stupid he was, but then blame him for inventing HIV in the basement of the White House, with his chemistry set, because he hated gays!

stuck up people generally like to think of themselves as more tolerant but the fact is that they never really get into situations that test that. so they never learn how intolerant they really are.
