i get people asking me this same question at least once a month!

there is no such thing! it is an urban myth.

what most people want when this is asked is either: an accuracy check of the vehicle or an inquiry as to whether the odometer is reading the correct mileage for the car.

Any of these requests can be handled by a good speedometer shop.

Yes. Our DMV has a form you fill out to list the correct mileage for a car that has had it's odometer replaced.

sort of...if you have your odometer replaced then the supplier will provide you with verification that the mileage is correct.
