under the road traffic act if a person causes an obstruction through inconsiderate parking or intention the police can issue a fixed penalty notice.

Admittedly they will more likely have a word with the person and see if that works first, then if they keep obstructing you they will defo get a ticket.

But they will do something.

This is a straightforward obstruction as per the Highways Act and the police should deal if it is reported I do like the idea someone had for ringing in the early hours because if the police are busy this could be put down to a low priority.By the way to place cones without lawful authority is the same offence.

I used to have someone do something similar to me. I solved the problem by phoning the police one night (about 3 in the morning) and told them I needed to go out in an emergency but someone was blocking my way. Now the police were not too busy at that time of night, so out they came, phoned in the registration number to find out where the owner lived and then gave them a friendly 3.30am house call to get them to move their car. It never happened again after that :))

Something similar happened to my next-door neighbour. She went into the local police station to ask advice and the resulting visit from the local constabulary seemed to sort the matter out! (Hoipefully, in your case, the offending neighbour will not bear a grudge and create other problems for you!)

All i know is that you are not to block someones drive, I don't know if it includes making it hard or impossible for the person to get of the drive, but you could contact the police and ask them.

Call the cops - they'll either ticket the inconsiderate jerk or have him towed away. Either way, I bet it doesn't happen again.

Get yourself a couple of traffic cones and place them strategically. Or have a word before you start a sticky bun fight.
