What does Eleanor Rigby exactly mean? What does "Look at him working. darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there" exactly mean? And Also the face in the glass line.

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?

Father mckenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working. darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Eleanor rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father mckenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
Chorus Repeat

i think the darning the socks kinda symbolizes his lifeless life and that eleanor is very lonely and expressionless so she only puts on an expression when she leaves the house?

It's a song about lonely people, it doesn't have a second meaning. It's just a song about how sad it is that no one takes the time to know "social outcasts".
The face in the glass jar could mean a jar of make up or just the emotional face she puts on before she goes outside to mask the loneliness within.

It simply about lonliness. There isn't really that much to it.
Just that it attacks the issues of being lonely and the depression and sadness that go along with finding yourself alone in life. Eleanor Rigby lived alone and died alone. No one really cared.

the song is about lonly people, doing things to pass time.
The line about the face in a jar ... basicly means that she is putting up a front that shes not lonly

I could be all wrong here just what I think

I think the song is about being elderly and being forgotten/ just living life until you die, because you have no family to remember you. I'm not sure about the "face that she keeps in a jar," but it could be her personality that she would like to show.
