They no longer require you to turn it on. I travel frequently with my laptop, they will ask you to remove it from your bag and place it in a separate plastic tray for x-ray. I've never had a problem resulting from my laptop being x-rayed.

1. x - rays do not cause any damage to u'r laptop > so, no worry
2. security issues & check procedures change most routinely
normally chances of you being asked to boot-up are remote
i've never been asked to boot up in over 20 check-in's
# earlier laptops used to hold battery in a compartment & could be used for malicious activities by removing battery
> that's best i can think of ... boot-up means battery in place

If you have a battery then they usually make you turn it on, but the last time I went through I did not have any battery with me so They did not make me turn it on. It is safe to put computers through X-Ray machines. You should remove all worries.....

No you don't have to turn it on. They usually just look to see if it is REALLY a computer in that bag. I have no problems with them X-Raying mine.

no you do not need to turn it on and yes it can go through the xray. I just traveled with mine to Los Angeles and Mexico, and it is perfectly fine.

you is probably not worried. the safe practices human beings will education guide you and allow you to understand what to do. they purely run a wand over you in the adventure that they see you as a 'chance' by the safe practices checkpoint - that is only an annoyance. the total safe practices procedure may be nerve-wracking if that is crowded and also you don't understand what to do. only stay calm and ask questions in case you opt for to. you may take electronics on board with you, yet you should exhibit your cellular telephone in the course of the flight. i propose that you positioned such issues as your keys, telephone, wallet, etc on your carry-on bag, a minimum of till you get by the safe practices checkpoint. That way you received't overlook to take them out of your wallet once you go by the metallic detector. in reality, that is extra valuable to easily positioned each thing out of your wallet on your keep on bag and then positioned them back on your wallet once you're previous safe practices. i became stopped once for chap-stick because it became foil-wrapped on the interior and that i did not understand. for sure, do not positioned some thing on your carry-on bag which will be considered a weapon - scissors, knives, equipment, etc. i imagine they provide help to've small lighters now, yet i do not smoke so i'm no longer efficient. keep in mind the three-a million-a million rule for drinks and gels. I consistently only stay on the secure aspect and positioned my shampoo in my checked bag. once you get to the checkpoint, have your boarding bypass and id out and prepared. once you get in line to go by the checkpoint, you may positioned each thing in a separate bin to go by the scanning gadget. Your footwear, coat, carry-on bag, and a computing device all could go by one at a time to be scanned. then you really walk by the metallic detector, %. up your stuff, and if each thing is going many times you'd be on your way. in case you streamline this procedure and do it quick, it makes each thing extra obtainable for you, and for each person in the back of you in line. On yet another note, that's considered mandatory to to be courteous to each and each of the safe practices human beings. they're those on acceptable of problems with your passage by the checkpoint. in the adventure that they pull you aside, that isn't any large deal. they're only doing their pastime. only be well mannered and comply. in case you purely pay interest to signs and indications and bulletins, you have to be fantastic.
