my experience has been if I beat some one up, with out good cause I usually paid a very dear price for what some would call satisfaction, and I didn't always get the better end of the deal from the start, fact is I got my nose broke once because I started the fight, but, I have seldom got hurt when some one else started it, so take my word for it there is no winners when it comes to fighting especially if you start it, I have been locked up, fined as I said got my nose broke which still gives me problems, and have lost many shirts not counting the bruises.however do what you think best.

Hell no it's not ethical to beat up someone you don't like. This question is really stupid, and beating up people is actually illegal and could land you in jail, just where you should be in my opinion.

Ethics are dependent on the specific rules of the group or profession. But I can't imagine any rational non-hate-monger group having an ethical rule to that effect.
And either way, it would be illegal.

Not if they haven't threatened you physically.
If they throw a punch or otherwise initiate an attack, then it's fully ethical. Protecting yourself (and family & friends) is always ethical.

Of course it is. Where did we ever get the idea that mild violence is unethical? We aren't a nation of panty-waists after all, and that's how men settle their differences. Don't go looking for a fight, but don't back down from one either.
