After reading a few of the answers I do have a couple of things to say.
First, the British if they were in Iranian waters or not will be hard to prove either way, so people need to get past that point and to the solution. The sailors are now prisoners like it or not.
Second, for all those people saying that their should be some kind of military action seem to have learned nothing from the present conflict that we are ensnared in. To me it is kind of sickening that everyone is so willing to use military force like it is a video game or something. When you start shooting two things happen, people die and they tend to shoot back.
As for the British saying their sorry that is their choice, but Blair has already said he wont negotiate for hostages. With that said and the summer coming be prepared for gas being 10$ a gallon.

this is a game? - with life in the balance. If the Brits do as you say the next time the level will go higher, like it did with the American hostages held for over a year (downfall of Carter). You are playing chess with the opposing player not looking to win the game but kill you. If you killed 3,000 people would that bring a smile to your face - it did to Bin Laden. Your adversary will use their own children as weapons. Brits aren't adverse to eating crow their adverse to escalating horrors.

Yeah he should do that so Great Britain appears to be weak and powerless. That has worked well int he past like when Britain negotiated peace with Hitler before WW2. And also when carter was president it worked to get our hostages freed from Iran. Moral high road thats just liberal nonsense. They should demand the immediate release or else Britain should begin a stretegic bombing campain aginst them until the hostages are released, just like Reagan did when he became president.

Because they weren't wrong!
>>Iran said they would release the hostages if Britain would just admit they were wrong<<
Should they send flowers and a pretty Thank You card too? (sarcasm)
I hope Blair's "different phase" is a major military action.

They are avoiding conflict. It's called respect for strength and it what is used to avoid most conflicts. If Blair backs down today, tomorrow Iran will board a UK vessel and take the ship and crew hostage.
Strength is what avoids conflict; not weakness!
Weakness invites it!

I believe the Iranians want 5 of their prisoners released in exchange for the woman and there should NEVER be caving in to hostage situations!

Because I don't think anyone in England would want to see a video of 15 severed heads.
Britain maintains they were not in Iranian waters.

Because the british weren't wrong. The Iranians trespassed in Iraqi waters and kidnapped several foreign troops. That is a very serious issue and it breaks several international laws.
Shouldn't Iran just return them and apologize?

the real question is, why don't the Brits just start kicking some Iranian tail!!!

Why would they lie to the whole world and make themselves look stupid to the whole world. But your right I guess they can just say it, then release a statement that they only did it to get there troops back. But then nobody would trust them anymore
