And I mean in real life not the TV or internet or photos etc.
Have you ever spoken to her?
Is this a silly question to ask at 00:30 when all the conservative monachists are probably tucked up in bed.

I was a student at Stirling University when the Queen visited in 1972 and there was something approaching a riot.

We were all terribly young and frantic and left wing, and we were really hacked off that half the buildings budget for the year had gone on tarting the place up for the day and building a special toilet for her - which she apparently never used.

Things got a bit out of hand. Drink was taken. (Scottish students, 1970s, drink - maybe someone should have foreseen the possible outcome).

There was a famous picture that appeared in all the papers of a young man (of particularly scruffy and intoxicated aspect) offering the Queen a drink out of his can of lager. She refused politely. The young man went on to be a Director of Social Work with a Scottish Local Authority. I believe he has now retired and is living quietly and enjoying his grandchildren.

Funny how things turn out.

I spoke to her after a presentation I took part in after I returned from the Falkland Islands, a few parades where I saw/was inspected by her but not able to talk.

The longest I spoke to her was when she officially opened the Siemens factory up here near Newcastle, she didn't have a clue about what I did but I said a couple of things that made her laugh. We talked about bits and pieces all told for close to 10 minutes, nothing really about the work more my lack of local accent and how I'd ended up being there.

I'm on the official opening video and was on all the front pages of the local newspapers the following day because I made her laugh.

My mother and father inlaw did. They were on a tour of the palace and the queen just came into the room they were in and then greeted them. They were getting a private tour (helps to know the archbishop of Canterbury). As I was told, my MIL, who get emotional and cries at the drop of a hat, started to cry when she met the queen. The queen asked her if she was alright and then my MIL had to admit she needed to use a bathroom. She was allowed to use Queen Victoria's bathroom. My MIL said Queen Victoria must have very small as she found everything in the room to be very tiny, including some little handles that were there as an aide for when Victoria was older.

My husband has QEII's signature on his officer's commission.

I saw her, years ago. She and Prince Phillip came up the St Lawrence Seaway on the Britannia. Visited in Canada.

First, I saw Prince Phillip standing on the deck as the yacht passed thru a narrow stretch of river. He waved to us.

Later in the day, I was right at curb's edge for a royal parade in Canada. The Queen was in an open carriage, and she passed right by me. She was so close, I could easily have reached out and touched her. I didn't, but I could have.

My parents, in 1953, were in a airplane hangar in the middle of the night, in Germany, waiting for a connecting flight. They were alone with one or 2 airline emploees. A side door opened and in walked Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. They were quiet and friendly. They exchanged the usual greetings and then the Queen and Prince went about their business. I would have puked and fainted. By the way, I shook the hand of the Queen of Jordan once.

Yeah, she comes to Edinburgh every year for some R&R. First saw her at the opening of the Forth Road Bridge in 1964 and since then I regularly see her in her royal carriage on the Royal Mile (they call it that because she is taken up the Mile from Holyrood Palace to Edinburgh Castle when she is here).

I saw her in Canada in 1978 and 1987, and in London many times, driving past in a car or carriage when I lived near Buckingham Palace. I never met her, but did talk to Prince Charles for a few moments at a reception. He raised an eyebrow when I said I was studying women in politics.

A friend of mine's family was originally from England, and his great grandmother's father was a gardener under Queen Victoria. She told him the story of how they were all out playing one day when the Queen came by. She looked at the girl and said, "Little girl, your bonnet is undone." or something along those lines. I thought that was pretty neat!

I saw her when I was still living in South Africa. We lived in a little town that was part of cape town and she used to come there quite a bit. I remember that's when I learnt that there is a world of difference between the word twit and tw@t! Swift slap round the head from my mum put me straight! lol. But I've never spoken to her either.
