This question has got so many answers and i like to see and get an idea of what others think. I think that humans didnt come from monkeys they came from god. Like one boy answered when I last asked this question if we came from monkeys there would be no more monkeys left. God created the world. He created man and the animals. He created this and this to be this and this. He didnt make monkeys to turn into humans because if he did there would be no point in making monkeys. And for you all who dont believe in god where did the monkeys come from, where did the earth come from, were did this so called big bang come from, where did the univers come from. God gives us things beyond our comprehension to test our faith. God always was here and all ways will be. And if you none believers look at your self as bieng a monkey your crazy. God created the heavens and the earth.
But thats just my opion coming from a true christian.

Why is it always one or the other like they're mutually exclusive? Why is it never both? You think a God capable of making such incredible things as gravity, balanced eco-systems and cell replication couldn't fathom a little algorithm like evolution and plan everything from the start?
Your monkey issue is not really a problem - what kind of a dull world would this be if horses ceased to be just because zebras arose? Incidentally, horses and zebras DNA differ more from one another than chimps and humans. Did the zebra steal the role horses played in the environment? Maybe in Africa, which is why you don't find a lot of other Equine species there, but elsewhere the horse still flourishes, thanks in large part to us. Where a species does the same job as another, it may well force the old one into extinction, but chimps do not fulfill the same ecological role as humans - nothing does now and thanks to our aggressive nature probably nothing ever will. Besides, what makes you so sure the Human will not see the eventual demise of all other species of great ape, just as we did the Dodo and the Tasmanian Wolf?
What confuses me is most of the Christians I know have dropped the old testament, following the new. The Jews still follow their version of the Old testament no? Yet it's the Christians who have the bigger problem with something that refutes an old testament (Genesis) passage - makes no sense to me - I would have expected more Hebrew scholars to have issues with evolution than Christian scholars, but that doesn't seem to be the case, at least not in this part of the world.

We came from neither God nor monkeys. We have evolved through evolution from a common ancestor of both monkeys and humans (we did not evolve from monkeys). The earth came from clouds of gas that condensed, pulled together by gravity. A popular idea among scientists is the idea of a "rubber band universe", where the universe expands and expands, then it gravity finally overcomes the acceleration, and the universe comes smashing back together. The entire universe becomes compressed into a point, and explodes again (the next big bang). This starts the entire process all over.

I am not going to argue this tonight, just ask a question after stating this. You have said that god did all and then you asked where did all come from, if not god. My question. Where did god come from? No " he was always here " BS. Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence. We have evidence for our scientific claims about the origins of the universe and the evolution of all life. You have not one scintilla of evidence backing any of your extraordinary claims. Seems you people would practice the humility that you espouse and educate your self before attacking something you do not understand, or seem to want to understand. The truth is here.

PS We do not come from monkeys, but have common ancestry. To your other point, here, if people in the US came from Europe, Africa and Asia, why do we still have all these places?
PSS Sorry, but you made a claim god was always here. I can claim the opposite. No evidence? Then we do not even have anything to discuss. Why would this supposed god, test our faith with fossils? I would have no use for a god of that caliber, anyway.

It must be a great comfort not having to rely on logic for your answers.
We did not evolve from monkeys, we shared a common ancestor many millions of years ago.
Did you ever wonder why lions and a pet cat look very similar to each other? Or why you share 99% of your DNA with a chimpanzee? Or why the Dodo bird was flightless, seemingly just waiting for man to come to their island and hunt them to extinction?
It is ignorance to accept that these things were just put there.
Evolution is the only theory which explains the differences and similarities between all species of life on Earth. It is one of the most robust, yet elegant, theories to be put forward. It is supported by many branches of science, in fact, I cannot think of a branch of science which can be used to reject it.
The main objections to it are faith based and are not scientific. People seem to be insulted that they can be related to other forms of life.
Why?
Because then it would challenge their beliefs that they were created in God's image, rather than having an ape-like ancestor as a template for humankind. It is this arrogance which keeps some people from accepting evidence.

According to Charles Darwin's theory, we evolved from monkeys and came to become us humans. It seems possible because over time every species needs to survive and adapt in a situation and develop ideas.
The religious theory also seems true because since we do not know what really happened, we believe in God and look to God as an answer.
I have no opinions, but I'm just stating the theory which is still in opposition today.

I believe that man evolved from a line similar to an APE in the beginning. I believe this because of the overwhelming PHYSICAL evidence that has been discovered.
Oh, monkeys are totally different from an ape.

ive always thought that it was nice to think that its a nice combination of both! lol.. maybe it was God's plan to make us evolve... i mean God's a pretty smart guy and can probably plan stuff pretty far in the future lol.. anyway thats what i think :)
