When the British female hostage is made to appear on video in a scarf and Islamic wardrobe, am I the only one who wonders why no one seems to speak out against this sort of behavior. When we provide a prison for terrorist detainees that is actually more accommodating than our own here in the U.S., but the watchdogs still complain of human rights violations...I just don't get it. Not that I believe in going to their level of savageness, but why those watchdogs say nothing about this behavior is beyond me. If we made the detainees wear a cross or a star of David, it would be all over the news how insensitive we are. Heck, our tax dollars go to buy them Kurans and prayer mats. I'm close to making serious my plan to organize a protest against terrorism. It would be nice to see a protest of the actual problem for once.

Steven H. - oh, I see. It's only important to be concerned with cultural sensitivity if you guys say it is. I know you're part of the culture police b/c you are calling a solidier kidnapped in Iraqi water, NOT Irani, a prisoner of war, rather than what she is - a HOSTAGE. What war is there between Gr. Britain and Iran? Just sounds more PC.

Yes, there were the pyramids and we were outraged! You are falling right into the point.

Take someone on death row and send them to Gitmo. They would be in paradise in a relative sense.

because a protest against terrorism is silly... or Iran or any of that...

it's like having a protest against child molesters...

people protest WHEN against other people in the same nation usually, when there are people in the area that think it (the issue in question) is right...

it's pointless to protest against something everyone agrees with...

now, granted, if you went to Iran, everyone wouldn't agree with it... but you can't just "take a quick trip to Iran"... most don't have the money or extra time (as it's much more expensive than even going across the US would be)... and they would probably kill you if you bothered to go...

I mean... do you want people to protest Iran in Washington D.C.? what would be the point of that?

they are WELL aware we don't appreciate many of their actions... would you do it just to make sure they knew?

IF YOU DID THAT... no one would care... and the press wouldn't cover it, because it wouldn't be news... because it would be pointless... of course you would say the press ignored you due to liberal bias...

See....there ya go again..

It's only human rights when it comes to what the US is doing.

You assume that "people" would understand what you're saying....bad decision.

I DO understand the point you're making and I agree 100%! To force her to adhere to their beliefs is wrong...she does not believe in that.

And yes...she is a hostage....not a POW...there's no war with Iran.....yet.

Many people rightly believe that they have more responsiblity to act/protest when things are being done wrong in THEIR NAME then when worse things are being done by someone who does bad things all the time and is already being dealt with.

So what are we supposed to do? Have a huge march and burn Iranian flags, or set fire to a mosque? As far as I know being made to dress in a particulr fashion of your host's designation is just polite and wise.

Libs give anyone who isn't a white male Christian or Jew a free pass on human rights.

Good God, haven't you got more important things to worry about than someone is made to respect another's beliefs for awhile? What next will you complain about? She is a prisoner of war. They could do a whole lot worse to her.

Making someone wear a burka is a little different than torture, which is how we "accommodated" the detainees at our all inclusive "Club Gitmo".
