Diesel fuel put in a vehicle designed to run on gasoline will not damage the engine mechanical system, but will depending on the amount installed cause a problem from poor performance and excessive exhaust smoke to engine shut down. Diesel fuel fires by the heat of compression, not by a spark plug. The only solution is to drain the fuel system as much as possible: fuel tank, filter and if possible "blow out" the fuel lines. The reason for this is that even if the engine runs on the mix of diesel fuel and gasoline the catalytic converter will be severely overloaded by the unburned diesel fuel, and the engine management system will not be able to properly regulate the engine operation. You can count on "check engine" light codes for cylinder misfire and oxygen sensor problems. Removing as much diesel fuel as possible and running the vehicle on gasoline for a while should resolve these problems

The previous answer simply is not true. Diesel fuel in solution will only lower the octane of your gasoline and it will not run as well. It really depends on how much you put in. A gallon or so in a full tank will have little effect. Half the tank will make the car run like crap. With a full tank the car will probably not start.
You should not do it, but if you just put a small amount in I would just add as much gasoline to the solution as possible and run it out. However if you put gasoline in a diesel engine then the first answer is correct.

It can ruin your engine. If you have done this, you want to drain the diesel out, don't continue to run it through the motor, the motor will stop running and then you have a huge expense to fix it.

If you only added a small amount, just top off the tank with gas.
Diesel fuel will not hurt your engine as long as it is no more then a 50/50 mix. Any stronger & you will experience excessive smoke & difficulties starting. Either drive it to burn it off or have it drained out.

Depends on how much you put in and how much gas was still in the tank.
