Great offense with the addition of Soriano and Derrek Lee back. With Rich Hill honing his game, another solid arm in the rotation. If they get Prior and/or Wood back at around 80%, these Cubs will be pretty dangerous.
One major concern is the closer position. All the money spent to get Soriano, the club couldn't pickup a better reliever? Dempster belongs in the dumpster.
Overall grade, 7. If Prior comes back strong and they get a reliable closer, I'd bump them up to 9.

7.5. The Cubs always had over a 100,000,000 dollar budget but never put it too good use. Now their all the rage, although they payed too much for Alfanso they needed him and I understand that they need speed and a superstar in the Line Up besides Derrek Lee. They now have Cliff Floyd as well, wow I think they improved by 2.5 this year. Besides, their pitching has, one of the best pitchers in the league : Carlos Zambrano, Kerry Wood, And they aquiored a good one : Ted Lilly. Amazing how much they improved. If you have checked out how their doing in spring traning its just awesome. Although, the Cubs STILL have some weakspots in the LineUp but other then that their good. Go Cubs!

I would give the Cubs a 6.5. They have a good lineup, but below average pitching. That said, they are in the weakest division in baseball where everyone except the Pirates has a chance to win it. If the Cubs were in the AL, I would give them only a 5, but they are in the NL Central so they get a 6.5.

If they stay healty they will win the division, however, Prior already on DL, Kerry Wood out of the bullpen, Lilly is below average, Zambrano is amazing. There bullpen is subpar and we saw how important a bullpen was last year as the Mets had a superior one and racked up 97 wins and were cleary NLs best team. Without an effective bullpen and an injured prior they are a 6.

6.5 or 7. Recent history shows that injuries they have no control over will hobble their star players and once again turn a talented team on paper into a mediocre team scratching and clawing for a wild card.

I give them a 7. They have the offense and somewhat of a pitching staff. They have a good chance to make it to playoffs.

Realistically I give them a 7 which might be enough to win that division this year
