I have tried bleach and hot water, but it still smells funky. Please help! What else can I do?

Let the washer load with hot water and no clothes. Pour a 1/4 cup of vinegar in it. Let the washer run like there are clothes in it. Set it for an additional rinse. Do this once every six months and you won't have that smell problem. The key is the vinegar, hot water and the extra rinse. After doing this, leave the lid open for an hour or so. You will also need to dip a cleaning cloth in the vinegar/water solution before it starts on the wash load so that you can wipe around the upper rim of the wash tub and the rim around where you open the lid. Bleach will clean, just not take care of the odor.

I agree with Baking Soda-- run a large cycle load with hot water and about a cup to two cups of baking soda. Stop it from agitating and allow it to soak for about 15 minutes. Turn back on the washing machine to complete the cycle. Leave top open after done to dry out completely. Don't leave clothes in the washer machine for extended times, this can lead to mildew growth in the washer.

Try that again, this time leave the door open so that all the moisture will dry up. You may have moisture trapped in the washer, pull it away from the wall and take a look. Mold could easily grow there.

Try baking soda. Run a wash cycle without clothes or soap and add a cup of baking soda.
