Use a flashlight.

Build the model around a flashlight, and make the switch accessable so that you can turn the light on and off.

Maybe you can find a cardboard tube to use for the lighthouse walls, or roll a cardboard tube out of heavy construction paper that you can buy at craft supply stores.
