I just recently (1 1/2 months ago) started a new type of birth control; yasmin. I had an ear infection during the time that I started the new birth control and was on antibiotics to kill the infection. I started noticing that I was having numbness on the right side of my face. I have continued having this numbness now for 1 1/2 months and the ear infection is long gone along with the antibiotics. Could this be a side effect of the yasmin? I never had this problem when I was on seasonale. Just curious to see if anyone else has ever had these same symptoms.

I am 24 and I just recently (1 1/2 months ago) started a new type of birth control; yasmin. I started noticing that I was having numbness on the right side of my face. I went to the doctor after 2 weeks of having the numbness and he said that I had an ear infection. He said there were no signs of Bell's Palsy or a stroke. He prescribed me some antibiotics and I went on with my daily routines. I have continued having this numbness now for 1 1/2 months and the ear infection is long gone along with the antibiotics. Could this be a side effect of the yasmin? I never had this problem when I was on seasonale. Just curious to see if anyone else has ever had these same symptoms.

Pls get in touch with your dr about this. What you are experiencing is not normal.

I had a rough time adjusting to the Yasmin when I tried it for 6 months last year. Things did settle down after a bit til I had some other problems with it. But I decided I would never do the Yasmin again because of the problems I had starting out.

No this probably has nothing to do with the yasmin. Go see a doctor asap and tell them about the numbness on the side of your face. It could be bell's palsy which is a paralysis of the face that has no known cause, it just happens to some people and is a serious condition.

If this affects only one side of your face accompanied by paralysis to the lips, eye lids, this could well be Bell's Palsy, usually treated with a stepdown regimen prednisone if initiated early in the condition. See a physician!

I dont know how old you are, but any numbness like you describe should be looked at by a doctor. There is always the fear of a stroke to consider even though there certainly may be another cause, I def. dont think it is from the pill. Get it checked. Good luck
