I've had the stom. flu since early monday morning. I went to the doctor on wednesday and found out thats what it is.

My friend has recently turned 21, and I'm dieing to indulge in at least a couple hours of beer drinking with him. Probably not passed 5 beers.

My question is...will this be ok? I'm feeling better by the day, but I also want to be a lot better by saturday and definately sunday. I don't want to have the symptoms any longer....they suck. Can I have a couple beers tonight and be ok for the weekend? If not...how much worse can beer make it?

It will dehydrate you. But who cares.

I have never understood why you "have to have" beer or liquor in the first place. What's the big deal... can't you get drunk with your friend when you know you are over the stomach flu...beside why would you want to go out with him and take a chance that he will catch the flu from you...I'd be ticked off if I was your friend..."so what we shared beers but you knew you had the stomach flu and you gave it to me thanks for the birthday gift of barfing up beer and everything else I ate!"

The flu is a virus and will just run its course. I don't think it will slow the healing process down but it might aggravate the stomach a little more than usual for a day. Just a couple probably won't hurt though.

Usually when you have the stomach flu you cant hold things down.. if youve ever puked alcohol, you know its not hte most pleasant taste.. if you can handle that fact, enjoy.. its not going to make you sicker but remember alcohol dehydrates you and if you are already dehydrated from not eating or drinking, its not going to make you feel any better.

The more rest you get the better. The alchol will just break down your amune system more and you will probably feel worse in the long run. Best thing is to wish your friend a happy b-day and stay home, put a movie in and get rest.

no, alcohol dehydrates you. You are already sick. This will just make you feel even more sick. If you have the flu, you need to rest and ingest more fluids. Take some Vitamin C. Sleep More.

I would seriously suggest staying away from alcohol.

I would not advise drinking beer - I would recommend Vodka or Whiskey... the strength of the alcohol will ultimately seek out and destroy the virus and chances are you will feel much better the next day.

I don't think it'll be a problem if you can stomach the beer.
