Like every algebra question, you want to make this an equation. So, 45y divided by 5y/6 = ? Then, as in every algebra equation solve for the unknown variable, which is "y." And both sides of an equation must be equal. First step, to make this lots easier, get rid of the fraction by multiplying both y-components by 6. Then you get an equation which reads 45y divided by 5y/6 = 270y divided by 5y. Then simply divide 270 by 5 and you get the answer y = 54.
