The best way is to just get out some gardenign gloves, as spade, and spend a day digging in the dirt. Pulling out the weeds will prevent them from seeding other plants and will get rid of them without an damage to ANYTHING (and will get you out in the fresh air)
If they are between rocks where other palnts are not ggrowing, but you cannot dig them out try ripping off their leaves then pouring boiling white vinagear on them.
What ever you do don't use RoundUp or generic brands of it. There are new studies out about how it causes health problems, is toxic to frogs and other wildlife, and builds up in the enviroment. It has recently been banned in Denmark and being reviewed in the US. It is likely to be the next "DDT" banned as it is not safe to use.

Growing from rocks? Is there any other vegitation that you are trying to keep alive? If not then round up will kill just about anything growing there. If you are trying not to kill grass or flowers then you are probably a little late. The best way to kill a weed without killing other vegatation is a pre emergent herbicide like weed b gone. They kill dormant weeds and don't touch plants that have already "emerged". Ortho makes a herbicide for weeds, but it doesn't work near as well, and you will have to apply it many times and then still use a pre emergent next year. If it's actually your lawn that you are trying to eliminate weeds in then you can use a weed and feed, but since you said rocks, I'm assuming that is of no help. I would go ahead and put down a pre emergent right now to kill any that haven't sprouted yet. Then you can either deal with them until next year or use one of the other methods I mentioned. If you really want to work hard, you could also get a spade and dig them out. Good luck!

4 cups white vinegar 20%
1/4 cup salt
2 teaspoons dish detergent
Combine ingredients and spray on unwanted grass and weeds being carefull not to spray on any wanted grass and plants. The mixture is absorbed by leaves and blades of grass and will kill them.
Or you can go to Lowe's and buy Nature's Wisdom Natural Weed Control. This is an organic vinegar solution.

The easy way is to use a weed control product like Weed be Gone from Ortho. Just follow the directions on the bottle. Also salt is a great bio safe way. I use table salt to generously sprinkle between cracks in a patio or around rocks, lightly water until salt is really wet. Reapply after every rainfall until mid fall as necessary.
