Who cares what they think or say at this point. They have had over four years now to do whatever it is they are trying to accomplish. They haven't and Iraq isn't even close to being a democracy or stable. The republicans have the same problem as the President. With all of the rah-rahing they have done, they can't see a way out so they attack any and everyone who disagrees with their policy in the middle-east. Two thousand years of history wasn't enough to tell them how difficult of a task they were undertaking. Maybe now two thousand and four years will show them.

The current Democratic leadership has not done anything they have promised (but a hell of a lot of shift blaming and lip service), and now I basically will not support any big parties in congress. Referring to Democrat or Republicans.
I am also an active military personnel, and have been there (Iraq/Afghanistan) to know better then all the gibberish talks from Democratic and Republican supporters in this forum except for military personnel with knowledge.
More Iraqis fear a USA withdrawal then what is being said in the media and our congress. If our Commander in Chief was a incompetent as Y!A democratic supporters say, then why didn't we continue to annihilate the entire country with US shock and awe? Simple its also false talking and FOS, or we would have total control of their oil fields and not Iraq. Which in fact is an issue at a stalemate to divide the revenues amongst the Iraqis fairly and to bring their people of all factions into a unity government and country. These things takes time, money, and unfortunately alike history "LIVES".
EDIT - to your comment of polls. What polls in America can truly make any real assessments of the Iraqi population, unless it is done with Iraqis there behind closed doors for fear of reprisals with them speaking out. Most Iraqis are peaceful and loving families like ours and have religious intonation also.

Stictly speaking Iraq isn't in a state of civil war. At least not in-so-far as the fight with American forces is concerned. Though there has recently been a great deal of sectarian fighting the amoungst the Iraqi people, the American military's main combat concern comes from foriegn born jihadists comming from other countries to fight in Iraq. If it weren't for the destablizing effect of these jihadists the Iraqi "civil war" would be much easier to manage. In fact it may even be safe to say that the Iraqi government and military (the one we helped build) would be able to handle the "civil war" and put a stop to the widespread sectarian violence, which would allow American forces to withdraw.

As a ex-military marine and a person from a family with a lifetime service of military service, I tend to look at the bigger picture and logistics. The failure to stay and endure the battle regardless of its perception, could allow this Iraq civil (as we see it unfolding) war to spill over and threaten neighboring countries in the Middle East. And then moving forward aggresively towards Western countries and allies.
Countries most interested in Iraq besides the US, is known and verbal enemies of the US and looks forward to its demise. Some US citizens and politicians continue to fail in seeing the implications of some hostile country taking control of Iraq and using it to harbor and train terrorist militia's for terrorism activity randomly around the non-Islamic countries.
Additionally, has anyone realized or fail to realize that the UN continue to approve the occupation of Iraq yearly and no way sees it as an illegal occupation. (Regardless of what King Abdul's (of Saudi) comments made and his turning of views to save his own butt in the Middle East upheaval.) Noting back to my intended comment that the withdraw will hold a dark and bleak future for the multitude of Iraqis whom have enjoyed their new future for their country, whom have benefited from freedoms of educational, social, and business opportunities.
It is and would be irresponsible for the US to leave now and then to only return because of acts of genocide which is a issue already at-hand.
I give my heart to every fallen and wounded comrade in the Iraqi and Afghanistan conflicts. And to those who continue to fight for the US military and our interest.
May God Bless America, our troops, and people. Long live America!

An amazing attribute with democraps is their insistence with failure in Iraq and yes ISRAEL. I find it perplexing. While many liberals continue to drive their SUVs and H2s and ***** about this war. Yes it was for oil, but also .... pulling out when the enemy is so obviously brutal....... war is ugly and so is mankind. It would actually be amazing what could happen if America were able to take the gloves off to start instead of kissing enemy combatant *** right up until they capped in the Kevlar.
This war would have been over a long time ago, if we were permitted to erase the enemy.. hell they would erase you and your loved ones in an instance......after they torture the hell out of them.. Why negotiate with such people?

They are robots and can only process what the the god-head bush dictates to them or should I say Cheney/Rove. Bush couldn't have a bowel movement on his own. Hell, they don't even think there is a civil war or that things are out of control or ever were. And some of them still think there are WMD's, yellow cake uranium, and the pre-war intelligence is gospel. Its just easier for them than to have to formulate a critical thought all by themselves.

Because to do otherwise would require admitting that we made a mistake, and that the past 2-3 years were largely wasted effort. Not to mention 3000+ American lives.
Some people cannot admit they were wrong, no matter how much evidence comes to light later.
