If you are truly in love and the other person feels the same, then it is not a case of what you can get from the situation, but what you can give. I also get in return, but I have no hesitation in giving.
I have been married and in love with my husband for 25 years and I have given him as much as I have gotten in return. I think the biggest thing that you get from being in love is the ability to face everything that life throws at you together. Over the years we have had more than our fair share of hardships, but love conquers all.

I really do think it exist. It is a love that continually grows and never fades away. It is there you have to open yourself up to be loved which has it ups and downs.. but that's how life is. When you have true love the selfishness gets dissolved and you want to be a better person.

It's a good question, you're right about the selfish part. Call me naive, but I still believe that true love exist, and when one finds it, the selfishness turns into selfless-ness.
That's when you find people 'letting go' of someone they love if they believe in doing so they make the other happy...

True love does exist, but not in the way that most people think. True love is not the fairy tale ending from movies, where everyday is magical and there are no fights, complications, or other desires.
Real true love is realizing that your companion and the relationship you have with him/her is more important than yourself. To be "loving" simply means to put your partners wishes and desires ahead of your own. It also means realizing that love is more than physical or even emotional attraction, but more of a dedication to the soul of your significant other, whether they be in good physical or mental health or not.
Hope it helps. I also hope you someday find true love.

Yes true love does exist. God did create love so people could love each other. Just look in Genesis and you will see true love between Adam and Eve.

Yes, I truly believe it does. My husband and myself have been together for 16 years and I truly do love him and I can feel he truly loves me. I do think that it is hard to find. You are right, we are selfish by nature. But, when you truly are in love you put them first and they become the priority. I love doing for my husband and my children before myself.

you just summed it up! i dont think that's cynical but i think love is usually based on having a need met. i dont want to meet any needs that arent gonna benefit me in the long run. people can boo that, but they damn well it's true. you're gonna really marry or continue to love someone who never ever meets any of your needs?? grow up! (btw this is for TRUE love, not the love you have for a child, which is unconditional)

It exists all over the world. If you don't see it in your surroundings, and find you are missing that in your life, I suggest changing your surroundings.
Moving to a different area works.
