This isn't a fair answer, as I was actually working in the State Department's Latin American bureau at the time. Believe me, we were trying very hard for #1, and I think we succeeded.

It also happens that I lived in Cuba for nearly three years, during which a strange new flag flew over the Soviet Embassy, and I watched hundreds of cars being handpushed to a gas station to receive (if they were lucky) their monthly ration of gasoline. None of them were the 1956 Pontiacs that I had seen on the streets when I arrived. I am possibly the last person in the world to have witnessed an accident involving a 1954 Chevy and a 1951 Ford.

Your second option is really funny, as Castro's moving his base to Harlem to address the UN, and the chicken bones he left behind were widely publicized. Almost everyone from the middle classes had fled to Miami or New Jersey by 1961, which is why it was impossible for a physician to get a tourist permit when I was there. Castro began by smashing the power of the press -- which under Batista, bad as he was, really existed. He then moved on to the labor unions which had supported his advance from the Sierra Madre, and dominated them totally. The Church may have been his last conquest, but it was total. By 1962, though masses were still allowed, no priest dared stand in a pulpit and say anything about the regime.

If your teacher challenges you on any point here, I would be glad to confront him. I actually know what I'm talking about.

Do you individuals quite like historical past?! I certainly hate it. The simplest factor I like approximately historical past is our instructor on account that he is quite humorous however we are getting a brand new instructor quickly besides. I simply discover it insanely uninteresting. And sure, I select maths to historical past. All my peers are doing historical past for his or her assessments, I appear to be the one person who is not. I recognise a few individuals could discover it exciting, however I'm most likely now not a type of individuals :)
